The surgeon general’s call to arms about the link between drinking and cancer could strike at a fiscal lifeline for restaurateurs facing falling sales.

The U.S. Surgeon General is calling for a warning label on alcohol, saying; “alcohol is a well-established, preventable cause of cancer, responsible for about 100,000 cases of cancer and 20,000 cancer deaths every year in the united states.

US Surgeon General Dr Vivek Murthy has issued an advisory to his fellow Americans, warning them that alcohol consumption can increase their cancer risk. Dr Murthy has even called for an updated warning label on alcoholic beverages,

Alcohol is a leading cause of cancer, a risk that should be clearly labeled on drinks Americans consume, U.S. Surgeon General Vivek Murthy proposed on Friday.
