Oba Femi captured the NXT Championship at NXT New Year's Evil, defeating Trick Williams and Eddy Thorpe in a triple threat match. Oba kicked out of the first trick shot knee, and moved out of the way of a second one. Trick hit Thorpe with the trick shot, but Thorpe was holding a steel chair.
