Hurricane forecasters expect a tropical storm to in the Atlantic. Remnants of Tropical Storm Mario are likely to bring rain to Southern California.

Forecasters say the system has a 50% chance of turning into a tropical depression within 48 hours and an 80% chance within seven days.

Invest 92-L will likely become a tropical depression by the middle to latter part of this week. The next name on the list is Gabrielle.

The National Hurricane Center is now tracking two tropical waves in the Atlantic, one of which could become the next named storm, Gabrielle.

And today the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s National Hurricane Center displays that most optimistic of Atlantic basin forecasts: an empty map labeled “no disturbances”—an indication that meteorologists don’t expect any tropical activity of note within the next seven days.
