Ten inmates escaped a New Orleans jail after breaching a wall behind a toilet and possibly having help, the local sheriff said Friday. So far only three of the men have been found.

After 11 people escaped the jail, Sheriff Susan Hutson swiftly faced criticism about her office's handling of the incident.

Orleans Parish Sheriff Susan Hutson says there are indications that the ten inmates who escaped from a New Orleans jail "received assistance in their escape from individuals inside of our department.” Authorities first noticed the 10 inmates were missing during a Friday morning headcount.
