Police say the suspect who was killed was identified as 16 years old. The officer was taken to the hospital with a gunshot wound to the hand.

A 16-year-old died and a Detroit police officer was wounded Thursday night in a shooting on the city’s east side, officials said. The incident was reported around 10:30 p.m. near Chester and Neff, Police Chief Todd Bettison said during a media briefing.

Dallas police are investigating a homicide after a man was found shot in Pleasant Grove early Fourth of July morning, officials said. Police responded to a shooting in the 9400 block of Bruton Road at about 12:15 a.m. Friday, Dallas police said in a news release.
