San Francisco 49ers GM John Lynch said the team tried trading up to pick Mykel Williams, and ESPN reported which team they tried trading with.

Headlining the 49ers’ draft was Mykel Williams, an edge rusher out of Georgia who was the 11th overall pick. In day two, the Niners continued to bolster their defensive line, selecting defensive tackle Alfred Collins out of Texas followed by the selection of linebacker Nick Martin out of Oklahoma State and Upton Stout out of Western Kentucky.

The San Francisco 49ers entered the 2025 NFL Draft with 11 total picks over the three-day draft. As they look to bolster a roster that saw plenty of talented players leave this offseason, the 49ers added to their edge rusher group in Thursday’s first by taking Georgia’s Mykel Williams with the 11th pick.
