After a one-day delay, SpaceX launched a new round of Starlink satellites from the Kennedy Space Center in Florida just after midnight on Tuesday.

The final Falcon 9 launch of Starlink low-orbiting satellites from California this year is scheduled for liftoff this weekend, according to SpaceX. The launch window for 22 internet communication system satellites is between 5:48 p.m. and 9:31 p.m. PST. on Saturday, Dec. 28, from Vandenberg Space Force Base.

KENNEDY SPACE CENTER — SpaceX successfully launched its final Starlink mission of 2024 on Tuesday, Dec. 31, at 12:39 a.m. The launch marked the 134th of the year for SpaceX, including liftoffs from Florida and California.

SpaceX is planning to launch another batch of Starlink satellites, including 13 with Direct to Cell capabilities, on a Falcon 9 rocket on Tuesday.

Launches from Vandenberg, outside Lompoc, and the spiraling exhaust trails they leave behind are often visible across Southern California. Loud booms from Falcon 9's reusable first stage can rattle local windows as the stage angles for a landing on an autonomous barge off the California coast.

SpaceX put the final countdown in the books for the Space Coast early Tuesday, adding one more to the record pace of launches for the year. A Falcon 9 rocket carrying 21 Starlink satellites lifted off from Kennedy Space Center’s Launch Pad 39-A at 12:39 a.

Florida's final 2024 tally of 93 orbital launches represents a 29% leap over the previous yearly record of 72, which was just established in 2023.
