By John Revill BASEL, Switzerland (Reuters) -Austria won the Eurovision Song Contest 2025 in Swiss host city Basel on Saturday, in the country's first victory since bearded drag queen Conchita Wurst won in 2014.

“It's absolutely crazy, my dreams have come true,” marveled JJ, whose real name is Johannes Pietsch, at the post-competition press conference.

Israel came second in the leaderboard, with Yuval Raphael – a survivor of Hamas’ October 7 attacks – winning support for her performance of “New Day Will Rise.”
