Two wildfires in Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park, possibly sparked by lightning early Thursday, have led to the evacuation of the park as firefighters respond to the blazes.

All staff and visitors at the Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park were being evacuated Thursday as fire crews worked to control two wildfires burning on opposite ends of the national park.

MONTROSE, Colo. — Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park in southwestern Colorado is being evacuated due to wildfires on both rims of the canyon, the park said on its website . The fires were caused by lightning, the park said. They said the park is currently closed and all visitors and staff are being evacuated.
