In the wake of the 2021 winter storm that left a third of the Dallas Zoo without power, officials have implemented a series of measures to enhance its preparedness for the winter weather expected to grip North Texas Thursday and Friday.

As winter weather hits North Texas, the Fort Worth Zoo is taking special measures to ensure the safety of its animals. Despite experiencing snow, rain, sleet and freezing rain, the zoo staff are diligently working to keep the animals warm and secure.

CLEVELAND, Ohio - Firefighters extinguished a blaze Wednesday at the RainForest exhibit at the Cleveland Metroparks Zoo. Animals and staff were not hurt, said a spokeswoman for the zoo. The fire is at the exterior of the RainForest exhibit, located on Wildlife Way, according to the Cleveland fire division’s social media page.

Leadership at the Cleveland Metroparks Zoo is breathing a collective sigh of relief after an intense fire was successfully extinguished by the Cleveland Division of Fire, limiting damage to the exterior of a building at the future site of the Primate Forest.

The former Rainforest exhibit, which has been under construction since last October, caught on fire. Cleveland Fire shared in a tweet on Wednesday that the fire was accidental.
