Ronnie Mosley (21st) blasted Aldi after its West Pullman neighborhood store closed over the weekend. Mosley called the closure of the store at 821 W. 115th St. a betrayal. Some residents said they were completely caught off guard by the closure.

PARMA, Ohio – A new Aldi is coming to Parma at 8:30 a.m., Thursday, Nov. 21. To celebrate the opening, the store is giving the first 100 customers a gift bag of Aldi Fan Favorites and a gift card. Meanwhile, the Batavia-based company opened a Forest Park location last week as it continues a national expansion plan, announced earlier this year.

Aldi is in an all-out expansion blitz, but for some Chicago residents it feels like a different story. The discount grocery chain abruptly closed its store in West Pullman on Sunday, just six weeks after shutting down another location in Lincoln Park.

Chicagoans who live in the city's West Pullman neighborhood pulled up to find their neighborhood grocery store closed for business this week. "I was here a few days ago and I noticed it was empty," Ebony Williams said.
