CNN will host a California gubernatorial primary debate next month, a potential inflection point in a crowded campaign that Democrats are concerned could provide an opening for Republicans.

Scott Jennings got into an explosive debate with John King over Donald Trump during an April 8 CNN broadcast. King brought up how several former Trump allies are now speaking out against him amid the war in Iran.

The debate will give 'voters a critical opportunity to hear directly from candidates seeking to lead the most populous state in the nation,' CNN said.
