Utah Valley University used some timely hits, some gutsy relief pitching, and a controversial video review, to stun the No. 12 Oregon Ducks in the opening round of the NCAA baseball tournament Friday night. UVU beat the Big Ten champs 6-5 on their home field in Eugene.

Friday’s win over the Cardinals was a good start for the Rangers as the offense began to dig out of its sizable hole.

Jack Mustaro had six RBI, going 2-for-2 with two runs scored as top-seeded Gloucester Catholic, No. 6 in the NJ.com Top 20, defeated eighth-seeded Holy Cross Prep, 11-0, in five innings in the South Jersey, Non-Public B quarterfinals in Gloucester City. The victory was the 600th career win for Gloucester Catholic coach Dennis Barth.

Eric Archambault is the head coach of the North Reading High School baseball team. Coach Arch, as he's called, said it wasn't a question of whether the team would make the trip to Boston on Thursday. He said Brady never missed school and rarely missed practice or games as a team manager during his treatments.
