The California governor wants Trump to switch from tariffs on foreign films to a federal film tax credit. It’s swapping one bad idea for another.

Gavin Newsom (D) is offering to partner with the Trump administration to create a federal film tax credit program worth at least $7.5 billion to boost domestic film production, his office said late Monday.

It sounds as though Gov. Gavin Newsom is just as confused as the rest of the world over the logistics behind President Donald Trump's proposed 100% tariff on foreign films -- but he isn't about to let that interfere with his plans for Hollywood.
