Kansas City metro school closings for Friday, January 10: Kansas and Missouri updates
Some schools will be closed or will shift to remote learning on Friday, Jan. 10, due to winter weather conditions affecting the roads and an approaching system that could bring 1–3 inches of snow. School districts in Missouri currently must provide 1,044 hours of instruction, or approximately 166 days, per school year. Some districts build in snow days to their calendar, while others opt to use up to 36 virtual learning hours instead. The state caps the number of weather makeup days at 10, forgiving any above that cap.

Kansas City to see light snow Thursday night into Friday
Snowfall amounts between 1 inch and 2 inches will be common along and south of I-35 in Kansas and 50-Highway in Missouri, with up to 3 inches possible near Pleasanton, Butler, Clinton, and Warsaw. A mostly cloudy sky will remain for the rest of Friday, with temperatures not reaching freezing.
