Lakers star LeBron James reportedly had eyes on the Dallas Mavericks before opting in on a one-year deal with LA.

LeBron James had the opportunity to become an unrestricted free agent this offseason.

At that point, the team might be able to get some value out of trading James, while the star forward would retain his Bird rights and maximize his earnings in future contracts with his new team.
