On Friday at 3:04 p.m. the National Weather Service issued a winter storm watch valid from Sunday 10 a.m. until Monday 1 a.m. for Carbon, Monroe and Northampton counties.

On Wednesday at 1:18 p.m. a winter weather advisory was issued by the National Weather Service valid from Thursday 7 a.m. until Friday 7 a.m. for Elk, Clearfield and Cambria counties.

Expect plain rain for most of the region. AccuWeather is predicting highs on Saturday to be between 40 and 42 degrees. Highs on Sunday will be right around freezing, 32 to 33 degrees. Be prepared for temperatures to drop significantly Sunday night and usher in a deep freeze for several days.

According to the National Weather Service, January 2018 was the last time Pennsylvania saw an extended period of bitter cold and dangerous wind chills.

The National Weather Service out of State College has issued a Cold Weather Advisory for portions of Pennsylvania. The advisory goes into effect at 12 a.m. Tuesday and will expire at 10 a.m. Wednesday.
