South Carolina coach Dawn Staley has been given a new contract that made her the highest paid coach in the history of women's college basketball.

The University of South Carolina’s board of trustees approved a contract extension for women’s basketball coach Dawn Staley on Friday that will make her the highest-paid coach in women’s college basketball.

The South Carolina women's basketball team has been one of the most dominant college basketball teams over the last eight seasons. The Gamecocks have won three national championships and have not been eliminated from the NCAA tournament before the Elite Eight since 2016.

Ever since becoming the South Carolina Gamecocks women's basketball team's head coach in 2008, Dawn Staley has turned the program into a dynasty that perennially competes for national titles. This is proven by the three National Championships (two of them coming in the past three NCAAW seasons) and five National Coach of the Year honors Staley has won while there.
