Geese that were found dead near Quarry Pond in Gettysburg have since tested positive for avian influenza, according to officials.
Quarry Pond at Gettysburg College is off-limits after dead Canada geese found at the pond tested positive for bird flu. In a message sent to the campus community over the weekend, the college’s Associate Dean of Campus Life said the Pennsylvania Game Commission is removing carcasses as the ice on the pond melts.
The geese were discovered on Jan. 18 near Quarry Pond on the college's campus. Testing by the PA Game Commission determined they had bird flu, the school said.
