Ozempic and Wegovy, the blockbuster but costly GLP-1 drugs often used for weight loss, are among the 15 medications that will be subject to the next round of Medicare price negotiations, the Biden administration announced Friday.

The Biden administration unveiled its list of 15 drugs, which include GLP-1 drugs, for the second annual round of drug price negotiations, made possible through the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA).

Novo sells semaglutide as Ozempic and Rybelsus for diabetes and as Wegovy for obesity. In price talks, CMS will treat the different forms as a single product.

The Biden administration announced on Friday the selection of the next 15 prescription drugs that will undergo price negotiations between manufacturers and Medicare, three days before President-elect Donald Trump is set to take office and take over the program.
