The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm watch for much of the central and southern Georgia area. Here's what to expect.

Freezing rain, sleet, snow and rain are expected Tuesday night into Wednesday to combine for a wintry mix that could disrupt daily life.

For us in north Georgia, we’ll be on the northern edge of the system and up to a couple of inches of snow will be possible. Here’s what to know ahead of Tuesday. Unlike the last winter storm that started during the morning hours, this system will pick up around midday Tuesday and continue into Tuesday night.

Some snow could fall in the Lowcountry on Tuesday, Jan. 21, the National Weather Service still predicted on Jan. 19. Bitterly cold temperatures will persist.

The National Weather Service says the mid-Hudson Valley region, including Poughkeepsie and Middletown, is under a winter storm watch.

I wouldn’t plan on any kind of travel from Tuesday night through the day Wednesday, no matter what kind of messy wintry mix we get.

With the chances of a historic Florida snow or ice storm inching upward, forecasters may issue a rare winter storm watch for a region more accustomed to squall lines and tropical threats.
