A Boston city councilor on Monday pleaded guilty to federal corruption charges after prosecutors accused her of taking most of an inflated bonus that she paid to a relative who worked for her. Tania Fernandes Anderson pleaded guilty to one count each of wire fraud and theft concerning a program receiving federal funds.

Boston City Councilor Tania Fernandes Anderson pleaded guilty to federal corruption charges in court on Monday after taking a $7,000 kickback from a staff member.

"You have to accept the journey even when it hurts," Tania Fernandes Anderson said after pleading guilty in federal court. " I am looking forward to some healing from this and personal growth.”

A couple said a security guard at the Liberty Hotel in Boston challenged their use of a bathroom and kicked them out.
