LONDON (AP) — Alpine announced Tuesday that Oliver Oakes resigned as team principal after less than a year in the role. The Formula 1 team is ninth in the constructors’ standings and reportedly was on the verge of replacing rookie driver Jack Doohan with Franco Colapinto.

Oliver Oakes has resigned as principal of Renault-owned Alpine with immediate effect and former boss Flavio Briatore is taking over his duties, the British-based Formula One team said on Tuesday. Oakes was appointed principal in July 2024,

Alpine announced Tuesday that Oliver Oakes resigned from his position as team principal, which was accepted by the team with immediate effect. Flavio Briatore, the team’s executive advisor, will assume Oakes’ responsibilities while continuing his advisory duties.
