The shootings occurred barely 11 years after a Jan. 15, 2014, shooting in which a 20-year-old gunman killed an employee and a shopper at the Martin's on East Bristol Street. The gunman in that case had forced a store manager to his knees and may have been about to kill him when Elkhart police arrived and killed the gunman.
