NEW YORK — The Padres and Yankees began playing at Yankee Stadium 28 minutes late, as a rainy day in the Bronx turned into a foggy night. Trent Grisham hit a two-run homer in the third inning to give the Yankees a 2-0 lead. The fog cleared up a short while later, but the rain began anew.

Stephen Kolek tossed 5.1 scoreless innings in his first start of 2025, setting the stage for the San Diego Padres to notch their eighth shutout in 33 games.
