Sony says they may return in some capacity in the future, and it will be exploring more opportunities to celebrate PlayStation's history.

According to data firm Ampere, PlayStation is responsible for 64% of consumer spending on Microsoft titles in December 2024.

"An account for PlayStation Network will become optional for these titles on PC," said PlayStation in a post including Spider-Man 2, and The Last Of Us Part II.

The 30th Anniversary PlayStation Themes on PS5 will no longer be usable, but PlayStation promises to bring them back in the future.

All PS Plus subscribers can play these games from Feb. 4 to March 3.

Sony has announced the PlayStation Plus Essential Tier games for February 2025 are Payday 3 (PS5), High on Life (PS4 and PS5), and Pac-Man World Re-Pac (PS4 and PS5).

While it’s very cool that PlayStation VR2 works on PC, it does have a few big caveats. Not only do you need the headset (which retains its $549.99 MSRP as of writing), you’ll need a computer powerful enough to handle VR gaming.

Retro game enthusiasts may already be acquainted with Analogue, a company that designs and manufactures updated versions of classic consoles that can play original games but also be hooked up to modern televisions and monitors.

PlayStation Plus is moving away from offering monthly PlayStation 4 games beginning in 2026. The paid subscription service will still offer them “occasionally,” but the main focus of the program will be PS5 games, and it only took almost the entirety of the current console’s life-cycle to see customer demand get there.
