Metallica is coming to Blacksburg as part of its M72 World Tour, marking 25 years of its iconic song playing as the Hokies take the field.

After decades of rocking Virginia Tech football fans through Lane Stadium's sound system, Metallica is visiting Blacksburg to shake the stadium for the first time — in person.

The band, whose 1991 song “ Enter Sandman ” is used as a football anthem by the Virginia Tech Hokies, will perform at Lane Stadium May 7, 2025. The show at Lane Stadium will mark the culmination of 20+ years of “Enter Sandman” playing as the Hokies take the field.
