As Vikings QB Sam Darnold's dream season sputtered to a close Monday night in a playoff loss to the Rams, he now heads toward free agency with his future as unsettled as ever.

Darnold turned back into the player he was during failed stints with the New York Jets and Carolina Panthers for the biggest contests of the campaign.

He completed 25-of-40 passes for 245 yards with a touchdown, an interception and a second-quarter fumble that was returned for a score.
