Florida’s legislative leaders issued a stunning rebuke to Gov. Ron DeSantis on Monday, rejecting his call for a special legislative session to address immigration and overriding one of his vetoes for the first time.

DeSantis has suggested he would veto the legislation rolled out on Monday by leaders of the Florida Legislature.

In a special session on Monday, leaders seemed to be declaring their independence from a governor who has wielded so much power that legislative sessions have become largely predictable rubber stamps.
