Forsyth County Sgt. Daniel Rush died on Monday night after a week-long battle with a critical illness. Rush was the longest continuous serving member of the Forsyth County Sheriff's Office. He was awarded the FCSO Purple Heart after he was shot in the line of duty by a gunman on the steps of Forsyth County Courthouse in 2014.

Highway Patrol revealed that Stanley Shelton was killed in a crash involving two other vehicles and a Forsyth County Sheriff's vehicle. State troopers say that the 31-year-old Winston Salem man tried to pass another vehicle in a no-passing zone along Reidsville Road around 7 p.m. Wednesday night.
