George Bush Intercontinental Airport in Houston has issued a ground delay through 11 p.m. due to anticipated severe thunderstorms, according to the Federal Aviation Administration. The delay follows the National Weather Service's Storm Prediction Center placed much of Southeast Texas under an enhanced risk of severe weather and issued storm and tornado warnings on Friday.

A powerful line of storms is expected to sweep through the Houston area Friday, bringing the risk of large hail and damaging wind gusts.

A Severe thunderstorm watch is in effect until 9 p.m. northwest of Huntsville and Houston that includes College Station, Waco and Austin.
