Nottingham Forest's remarkable campaign continued with a 3-2 win over struggling Southampton on Sunday but they had to survive a late onslaught before securing the win to move level on points with second-placed Arsenal in the Premier League standings.

Southampton's fighting finish was admirable. It followed a promising performance in defeat by Manchester United on Thursday, meaning those looking for positives will see a side still battling despite a bleak situation. They continue to make errors leading to goals, however - a trait they must stop if they are to have any chances of staying up.

Even when Forest faced Liverpool in their previous game, there was a belief Forest could win, and there was a sense of disappointment in the dressing room and among the hierarchy when they were held to a draw by Arne Slot’s side.
