Believe it or not, October is seasonally our wettest month of the year, averaging right around 4″ of rain over the course of the month. Thus far, we are sitting at a goose egg + a trace of rain we saw with last weekend’s front.
An approaching cold front will make for a rainy Friday and Saturday, putting Central Texas under a Weather Impact Alert.
After a high wildfire threat on Tuesday, we’ll be looking forward to our first good chance of significant rainfall this month over the weekend.

Houston weather: Cool start, rain chances for the new week
HOUSTON - Monday morning should be the coolest of next week, with upper 50s across the region. A cold front swept through southeast Texas on Sunday. It took until the late afternoon for comfortable temperatures, but also a huge drop in humidity.
Texans hoping for sweater weather may be in for a rude awakening. According to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s (NOAA) official winter outlook, most of Texas—from Houston to the Hill Country—can expect a warmer and drier winter than normal, spelling trouble for the state's deepening drought.
New burn bans have gone into effect across Central Texas, and local officials may add more if we don’t get some rain in the coming weeks.
