May 9, 2005 · The ARES nets are pretty much open to anybody wanting to check in. The net control station will call for stations with traffic to check into first then to stations without traffic. You can be mobile, QRP, portable it doesn’t really matter. Some ARES nets get involved with the National Traffic System as well.

Oct 7, 2024 · Just north in Sarasota Co. the opposite is true and their ARES works closely with the red cross and has no operability in the county EOC. WCF and SWF have had plenty of storm activity going back to Hurricane Charlie to develop standard practices and capabilities. Something NC, TN, GA, and SC have not had until Helene.

Look for the ARES group in your county or area. In north Florida the county ARES groups support most of the charity athletic events (marathons, triathlons, bike races, etc.)
